Truthful Thursday- Marriage

Marriage
Did you know?
I do not have a perfect marriage, nobody does…right?

I’ve been married for 11 years this May.  My husband is truly amazing. He is caring, loving, sensitive (still loves to cuddle his blanket…lol), thoughtful, strong, honest, patient, compassionate and understanding.  However, he is not perfect and neither am I.

I don’t know how he has been able to put up with me this long because I am:

Stubborn, hot tempered (is the Latin blood…lol), impatient, rude at times, insensitive, bossy, selfish and the list could go on and on…. can you relate?  ha!

Before starting my businesses, I was the “perfect” housewife.

I cooked meals every day
Laundry never piled up
I ironed his clothes
My floors were spotless
I clipped coupons
I did most of the grocery shopping
I was in a women bible study every week
I went to bed with him every night
I scheduled play dates for my girls
My girls got their hair done everyday
Etc…etc…etc…

See…my hubby was used to this for 8 years and the past 2 1/2 years have been completely different.
Housewife no more :(
New normal, a new routine, new to-do lists, new priorities, etc…etc..
It has been challenging to say the least.

How are we able to get through?
Communicating
Lowering our expectations
Asking for help when needed
Compromise
Give each other grace (I’m working on this one)
Work as a team not against each other
Show appreciation

A friend of mine suggested this website and is wonderful!

Not long ago we argued about stuff….can’t even remember why or what it was?  He went to bed and I stayed up late crafting.
I found this note taped on his mirror in our bathroom before going to bed…..

My heart melted. He is a sweet man. He loves me.
I love him and can’t imagine my life without him.
I could never do all I do without his help and support!

Here are some bible verses I love:

And be kind one to another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake has forgiven you.  Ephesians 4:32

Above all, love each other deeply, because love conquers over a multitude of sins.
1 Peter 4:8

What therefore God has joined together, do not let man separate.  Mark 10:9

I share with you that we have struggles and challenges, but we know we got to get through together until the end!

How do you handle issues, stress, problems in your marriage?

I was a single mother until my 2nd son was 9 … I am still adjusting to married life. There is a lot of compromise and communicating things that I sometimes do not feel like talking about (even the store list). He is more laid back than I am, so that helps.
