How to Make a Heart Lollipop
Are you all ready for Valentine’s Day? I love, love, love this holiday!
We had some fun this weekend making lollipops using leftover candy canes. I couldn’t find a tutorial for using large candy canes so we had to figure it out ourselves and wanted to share.
First, Preheat the oven to 300 degrees.
You will need:
candy canes
lollipop stick (any kind will work)
kitchen scissors or knife (I found that the scissors worked better)
plastic cutter to cut the plastic off (we got ours from Pampered Chef)
aluminum foil covered cookie sheet
nonstick cooking spray
knife
Cover cookie sheet with aluminum foil and spray with nonstick spray.
Remove plastic from the candy canes
Cut candy canes in a heart design using kitchen scissors or knife. Some sides may be a little longer to make the heart. I kept the candy canes in the heart shape to know where to cut.
Line up the candy canes up on the stick.
Put the candy canes in the preheated oven for 4 minutes. Take out and align on the stick again. They will want to uncurl.
Bake for another 3-4 minutes, watching to make sure they are staying on the stick.
Next, go around the candy canes with a knife to smooth our the sides to get the best heart shape.
Let cool and enjoy!
My kids LOVED them and said they were even better than candy canes!
Cheers! ~Paula
