Hi everyone, Britni here again from Play. Party. Pin. A couple of weeks ago my family went on a vacation to Anna Maria Island in Florida and had the most amazing donuts, probably the best ones I’ve ever had. I’ve been trying out different donut recipes ever since to try and find one that I love as much, which means that we have a lot of donuts at our house. I don’t know about you but my waistline can’t handle donuts every day so I thought it would be fun to give some of the mini donuts away to our friends with a sweet spring note.
While I still haven’t found the perfect mini donut recipe, I did pick up the book Mini Donuts by Jessica Segarra that and it has some pretty good recipes. I used the basic glazed donut recipe for my spring donuts. Start by making mini donuts. You could also do this with regular sized donuts, but I just love how cute the minis are.
Once you’ve made your donuts, prepare your glaze. I just used a basic vanilla, milk, and powdered sugar glaze for these donuts. Before you glaze your donuts, prepare your sprinkles (or whatever other topping you would like to use) so you can top the donuts right away before the glaze hardens. Once you have everything ready to go, dip your donuts in the glaze then top with your favorite toppings (sprinkles, nuts, fruit, etc.). I used spring colored sprinkles.
And now for the fun part, put your donuts in little baggies (I cut the top of Ziploc sandwich baggies) and tie with some spring colored baking twine. Add the free printable below to the bag and you’re done. I’ve included two free printables below, one that is “whole” and one that is “hole” for those of you like me who like silly puns.
These would be great to send home with friends after Easter dinner, a treat for kids after an Easter egg hunt, or just a sweet spring surprise for a friend.
You could also just make spring mini donuts and serve them at a party if you want to skip the printable. I love the idea of serving mini donuts individually on striped straws or on colored skewers.
Are you a donut lover like me? I pretty much love all baked goods whether it be donuts or mini pumpkin cinnamon rolls.
